Immigration Chief Laments, 107,646 Uncollected Passports

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nanna Nandap, has issued an urgent appeal to applicants awaiting their passports to collect them from the designated Passports Issuing Centres nationwide. In a statement released on Friday by the Service Spokesman, Kenneth Udo, it was revealed that a staggering 107,646 passports have been produced and are currently awaiting collection.

Expressing concern over the inability to contact passport owners, the CG emphasized the importance of providing accurate and verifiable addresses and phone numbers when filling out online passport application forms. This, she noted, would facilitate easy communication and prompt collection of the produced passports.

To accommodate the high volume of passport collections, the CG has directed that all Passport Offices in Lagos extend their operational hours to include Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. However, this extended operation is exclusively to facilitate the collection of already produced passports.

Applicants are urged to seize this opportunity and promptly collect their passports from the designated Passport Offices. Please do so to avoid delays and inconvenience for the applicants and the Passport Offices.
