The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has given understanding into why the Election processes in Rivers State was suspended.

INEC had announced the Election in the state inconclusive in the wake of suspending the announcement of results for Saturday’s governorship and State Assembly decisions because of election malpractices in the state.

In any case, INEC clarified that the Election processes in the state was canceled because of brutality and danger to life.

The clarification was contained in an announcement marked by the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu, Rotimi Oyekanmi.

The announcement peruses incompletely: “In Rivers, the Commission was compelled to suspend the Election because of brutality and dangers to life, because of which it comprised a Fact Finding Committee to evaluate the circumstance and report back inside 48 hours.

“In a few different states where a presentation was not promptly made, the decisions did not meet the limit required for such an assertion.

“The Commission will make the suitable move recommended by the law and make an assertion.”
