Unknown Gunmen Kills 2 Soldiers, 3 Policemen, others in Anambra, Enugu

Some unknown gunmen have killed two soldiers of the Nigerian Army in Enugu State.

The troops were killed on Tuesday at Adani community of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the state as they tried to repel Gunmen attack, Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu confirmed this in a statement.

Part of the statement read: ” Sadly, during the fire fight that ensued, two soldiers paid the supreme price.

“The troops are currently on the trail of the criminals. ”

Nwachukwu urged the public to provide useful information on the fleeing gunmen to the force.

“We assure the general public of our commitment to provide adequate security in the general area in collaboration with other security agencies.

“We also urge members of the public to complement the effort of the security agencies by remaining law abiding and provide useful information on the fleeing gunmen,” the statement added.

Gunmen have killed five persons, three of them policemen in Anambra.

The assailants, who stormed Abatete in Idemili North local government area, also set three vehicles ablaze on Tuesday night.

They abducted one unidentified young man from Uke after several shots fired at him failed to penetrate.

He was dumped in the trunk of the vehicle and whisked away to an unknown destination, it was gathered.

A source said the hoodlums invaded the community in two Highlander jeeps and one Sienna car.

The incident, according to the source, occurred at Eke-Agu area in the community.

Anambra Police spokesman, ikenga Tochukwu, said he has not received any information on the incident.

But another Senior Police Officer, confirmed it.
