THE NIGERIAN AIRFORCE PLEDGES TO FIGHT TILL THE END

The Nigerian Air Force in her relentless support in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic on Friday dully transported medical supplies donated by the Turkish government to Nigeria from Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Then NAF Director for Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola stated that the donated medical items consisted of several boxes of equipment, medications and other supplies, weighing upto 4000kg and they were carried by NAF C-130 Hercules aircraft (NAF 917) and handed over to the presidential task force on COVID-19 for delivery to the central storage facility in Abuja.

Also in a bid to support the fight, the NAF airlifted Healthcare professionals from the Irua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Edo state to Abuja and have pledged continued assistance whenever needed to continue the fight against the pandemic.

It is also worthy of note that the Air Force thought it’s liquid oxygen plant at the 103 strike group in Yola is producing oxygen for distribution to isolation centers and designated hospitals across the country.

The NAF spokesperson said that since the first confirmed case in the country, the NAF have taken elaborate steps to deal with it and has undertaken a comprehensive sensitization campaign across all NAF units while emplacing necessary measures to prevent outbreak among personnel and their dependants.
The sensitization campaign, according to him have included awareness lectures on precautionary measures as well as the distribution of over 30,000 information, education and communication materials on the disease to all NAF units nationwide.

They have installed hand washing facilities in assail NAF units and ensured adequate screening of visitors and passengers before and after every flight.
