The Federal Government has emphasized that the completion of the Ogun State Agro-Cargo Airport will enhance the well-being of the people and contribute to the rapid growth of the state and the nation’s economy. Mr. Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, made these remarks during a press interaction after touring the airport with Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Edun praised the airport as a significant economic project under the leadership of Governor Abiodun, predicting that it would be a game-changer for the state when fully operational. He highlighted the ARISE Agro-Cargo Industrial and Export Processing Zone as a crucial economic achievement that fosters economic growth, job creation, poverty reduction, and overall benefit for the people of Nigeria and Ogun State.
Regarding the airport’s facilities, Edun noted that the terminal building is undergoing finishing touches to become a comprehensive international passenger and cargo airport. He commended Governor Abiodun for his efficiency, attention to detail, and corporate world experience, which, according to Edun, are evident in the high standards of the project.
The minister congratulated the governor and the people of Ogun State for the achievements so far and expressed anticipation for the positive outcomes, such as job creation, increased production, and improved opportunities for farmers. Edun encouraged other states to collaborate with the private sector to replicate similar successes.
While acknowledging the country’s current economic challenges, Edun emphasized that the government is creating a business-friendly environment to attract local and foreign investors. He mentioned ongoing efforts to stabilize the economy, control inflation, manage the exchange rate, and boost export revenue for economic growth. Despite the current hardships, Edun assured me that there was hope for better days ahead.
