The Katsina State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken decisive action in response to allegations of anti-party activities during the recent rerun election in the Sabuwa/Faskari/Kankara federal constituency. A committee, spearheaded by former Deputy Governor Alhaji Tukur Jikamshi, has been established to investigate the matter thoroughly.
The formation of this committee was prompted by the grievances lodged by party members who suspected certain individuals of working against the party’s interests during the election. Inaugurating the committee at the State’s Government House on Thursday, the state’s party Chairman, Alhaji Sani Aliyu, outlined their mandate. This includes reviewing the party’s performance in the rerun election, investigating the allegations of anti-party activities raised by aggrieved members, determining the validity of these claims, and identifying the individuals involved.
The committee is expected to deliver its findings and recommendations to the state party leadership within two weeks. It comprises notable figures such as Alhaji Tukur Jikamshi, the Former Deputy Governor of Katsina State, current serving Senator Abdulaziz Yar’adua, Fadila Dikko, the State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Alhaji Suleiman Mohammed Namadi, Secretary of Katsina APC, and elder statesman Alhaji Kabir Maska, among others.
Alhaji Sani Aliyu, the party Chairman, revealed that the state Governor, Malam Dikko Radda, has expressed confidence in the committee’s impartiality and has pledged to abide by its submissions. He emphasized that the investigation is crucial to fostering unity within the party and addressing internal grievances.
Committee chairman Alhaji Tukur Jikamshi thanked the party leadership for entrusting them with this responsibility. He assured the assigned task would be executed with the utmost honesty and diligence, guided by the party’s constitution.
This proactive approach by the Katsina State APC demonstrates its commitment to transparency, accountability, and internal cohesion. The investigation, led by a diverse and reputable committee, is poised to clarify the allegations of anti-party activities and contribute to strengthening the party’s unity. The two-week timeframe for the committee to complete its work underscores the urgency and seriousness with which the party addresses internal issues, reflecting a dedication to maintaining a cohesive and effective political force in the state.
