The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Monday raised the alarm over the arrest of its Osun governorship candidate Senator Ademola Adeleke despite a subsisting high court order against his arrest by the police.

It also alleged that it was part of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, grand plot to prevent Adeleke from assuming office as the state governor.

The party also accused APC of planning to poison Adeleke while in detention.

PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, made these allegations while briefing newsmen on Monday evening in Abuja.

He added, “PDP hereby informs the nation that the police have arrested Senator Ademola Adeleke in disregard to the order of the Federal High Court.

“The arrest is a direct act of violence against our laws.

“This is a plot to coerce Adeleke to relinquish his mandate given to him by the people of the State.

“The PDP, therefore, demand for his immediate release.”
