Police Confirm Lightning Strike Tragedy, 2 Women Killed in Lagos

Tragedy struck in the FESTAC area of Lagos State as two women lost their lives after being struck by lightning during a heavy rainstorm. The heartbreaking incident occurred on Friday, as confirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police spokesman in the state.

In a post on his social media handle – @benHundeyin, Hundeyin revealed that the unfortunate event occurred on First Avenue, FESTAC. The two women had opted to remain indoors during the downpour, seeking shelter from the inclement weather. However, tragedy struck when lightning struck their location, resulting in their electrocution and causing a fire outbreak.

Reports indicate that the victims resided in a hut constructed beneath high-voltage wires, exposing them to heightened risks during storms. Hundeyin expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and offered prayers for the repose of their souls.

This devastating incident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers of adverse weather conditions and the importance of prioritizing safety measures, particularly in vulnerable environments.
