Nigeria has sent a delegation to the United Kingdom (UK) to find a way of settling the $9.6 billion judgment debt awarded against it.
The delegation led by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami; the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele left Nigeria for the UK on Saturday.
Malami disclosed this to newsmen on Sunday night.
He said that the delegation would meet with the legal team in the UK on way forward.
“Nigerian delegation leaving for the UK would file a new case based on the new realities of the contract or would build on the previous judgment.
“All cards are on the table but it all depends on (which is) beneficial, that has potency for setting aside the award, having
regards to the applicable law in the circumstances,” he said.
A UK court had in a recent judgment awarded $9.6 billion debt against Nigerian government in a petition brought against the country by Process and Industrial Developments Ltd (P&ID).
