Ndum attributes food insecurity to FX market instability

The Senate Chief Whip, Ali Ndume, emphasized that one of the primary factors exacerbating food insecurity within the country is the persistent instability observed in foreign exchange rates. Ndume’s remarks came to light during an in-depth interview conducted on Channels Television’s Politics Today aired on Wednesday.

In recent times, widespread protests have erupted across various states, including Ogun, Oyo, Kano, Niger, and other regions of the nation, echoing the prevailing hardships faced by citizens. Among the chief grievances expressed by Nigerians are the alarming rise in food inflation, the soaring cost of living, and a host of other formidable living conditions, all of which have been significantly amplified by the recent removal of petrol subsidies and the ongoing forex crisis.
