INEC: How Mahmood Yakubu defeated 3 power blocs in APC with 3bn to Secure Reappointment

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has on Monday opened and closed its defense in the governorship election petition filed by the former Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar, against the victory of the incumbent Governor, Bala Mohammed before a tribunal.

It is reported that the electoral body, Peoples Democratic Party and Bala are respondents in the petition.

The Electoral Commission had during the sitting informed the court that there was no need for her to call any witness or tender any documents.

Counsel to INEC Illo Sanusi (SAN), who made the submission, urged the tribunal to consider the exhibits presented before it which were cross examined by them to deliver judgement.

Having listened to arguments by both parties, the tribunal chairman Justice Salihu Shuaibu adjourned sitting to Tuesday 3rd September 2019 for the second respondent Governor Bala Mohammed to open his defense.
