The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation cautioned petrol stations on Monday, urging them not to cause traffic congestion while serving customers with fuel. Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, issued this warning in a statement released in Lagos.
“Given the ongoing fuel scarcity, we urge fuel stations in the city to ensure that queues of vehicles waiting for fuel do not disrupt the smooth flow of traffic,” said Ogunlola. She expressed concern about the traffic disruptions caused by customers at fuel stations, emphasizing that such gridlocks negatively impact individual and corporate economic activities.
The ministry advises fuel station operators to maintain orderliness and ensure their customers do not hinder traffic flow. Ogunlola also warned against potential sanctions for non-compliance, noting that the state’s law enforcement agencies are actively monitoring compliance with these directives.
Furthermore, she stated that the ministry will continue to monitor the traffic situation closely and encouraged the public to report any fuel stations causing disruptions through designated hotlines.
