The Appeal Court in Abuja has removed the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Dahiru Liman from the All Progressives Congress (APC). He represented Makera Constituency in Kaduna South Local Government Area.

The Court also told the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take back the certificate given to the Speaker and organize new elections in 5 voting spots.

Hon. Solomon Katuka from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) questioned the Speaker’s election at the Tribunal. He said there were big problems with the election and insisted he actually won.

In September, the Tribunal canceled the Speaker’s election and said there should be a do-over in 42 voting spots across 5 Wards.

However, the Speaker, the APC, and INEC didn’t agree with the Tribunal’s decision. They appealed, and Solomon Katuka of the PDP also appealed, asking for a clear declaration.

A three-person panel led by Justice I. O Adejumo, Justice A. O Oyetula, and Justice P. A Obiora decided together to cancel the Tribunal’s decision for a do-over in 42 voting spots. The Appeal Court accepted the PDP candidate, Hon. Solomon Katuka’s request, and said there should be a do-over in 5 voting spots in the constituency.
