Meanwhile, despite the signing of the bill into law by President Buhari, the battle for the implementation of the new N30,000 minimum wage is far from being over.

There are still disagreements between the NLC and the federal government over the implementation of the wage structure.

Reporters gathers that the government is yet to accede to labour’s demands for workers from levels 07-17 and above, as workers on levels 01-16 are set to enjoy the N30,000 minimum wage.

However, President Buhari has approved the immediate implementation of the N30,000 new national wage for Federal Public Service workers currently earning below the minimum wage.

The chairman, National Salaries, Income and Wages Commission, Chief Richard Egbule said this while addressing a news conference on the implementation of the new national minimum wage on Tuesday, July 16, in Abuja.

He said that the commencement of the approved payment would be determined by the office of the accountant-general and back dated to when the president signed the agreement.
