Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has asserted that he will not yield his mandate and the state’s progress to acts of intimidation, blackmail, and deliberate sabotage against his administration. Speaking at the 115th and 116th combined Quarterly General Meeting of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara disclosed that his administration is facing deliberate sabotage. Still, he emphasized his commitment to the equitable development of the state despite challenges.

He encouraged Nigerians to believe in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda at the federal level, citing Tinubu’s determination to address the current economic challenges. Governor Fubara stated that he focuses on serving with humility, sincerity of purpose, and accountability during these trying times.

Addressing the traditional rulers, he reaffirmed his dedication to the protection, defense, and advancement of Rivers State, underscoring that he will not succumb to pressures aimed at forcing him to abandon his mandate. Despite the challenges, he reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace, emphasizing the futility of needless crisis in the state.

Governor Fubara outlined plans to strengthen the state’s education, healthcare, and social services, with the 2024 appropriation bill prioritizing funding for universal access to affordable and quality education and healthcare. Additionally, he pledged initiatives to unlock the entrepreneurial spirit among unemployed youths through skills development, entrepreneurship training, and targeted investments in commercial agriculture.

Addressing traditional rulers, the Governor urged them to uphold integrity, remain neutral, and speak truth to power to maintain their moral authority and legitimacy before their people.
