Two other students joined in breaking the door of the shop before a gas cylinder in the shop exploded and trapped the driver. Luckily he was not harmed.
Before the fire could be put out by students, it had already razed down series of shops which have been fully stocked in preparation against the forthcoming matriculation of the university.
Some students and residents also expressed their displeasure in the fact that there’s no fire station in the area and this have left victims of fire incidents to the mercy of neighbours and students who are around at the period. Also there’s no police station in the community to safeguard the properties of victims that were salvages,as hoodlums always seize the opportunity to cart away properties.
