A Senator, Duoye Diri has emerged the PDP Bayelsa Governorship Candidate in the Forthcoming Election in the state.
The Election is scheduled to hold in November 16.
Diri, who is Governor Seriake Dickson annoited aspirant from the Restoration political family won the primary by polling 561 votes to beat twenty other aspirants.
The voting process which commenced late Tuesday night at about 11.30pm dragged into the early hours of Wednesday. Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, who was the chairman of the governorship electoral panel that conducted the exercise said Timi Alaibe came second with 365 votes while Keniebi Okoko came third with 142 votes.

Duoye Diri – 561, Timi Alaibe came second with 365 votes while Keniebi Okoko came third with 142 votes.
According to him, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah (rtd) scored 62 votes while Benson Kombowei polled 24 votes, Arc Reuben Okoya got 19 votes with Kombowe Benson polling 24 votes. Ishaku added that Ayawe Nimibofa and Joshua Maciver scored 7 votes each while Kemela Okara, Etolor Robinson, Franklin Osaisai and Bolade Igali polled 4 votes each while Benson Agadaga, Talford Ongolo, Kiyaramo Johnson and Alagoa David had 3 votes each, Igiri Tobin scored 2 votes. According to the Taraba governor, 1,237 accredited delegates voted during the primaries out which 16 votes were declared invalid.
One of the 21 aspirants, Talford Ongolo, had stepped down from the race on the eve of the primary poll.
Prior to the voting, delegates were accredited at the Ijaw House on the Sani Abacha Expressway from where they were conveyed to the Dr. Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre.
Ishaku, who declared Diri winner of the poll said he scored 561 votes to win the political contest.
“I, therefore, by the authority conferred on me as the chairman of this gubernatorial primary election which took place today in Yenagoa; the highest votes were scored by Senator Douye Diri.
BIOGRAPHY OF DUOYE DIRI
Douye Diri is a Nigerian politician. He is the senator representing Bayelsa Central senatorial district of Bayelsa state at the Nigerian 9th National Assembly and gubernatorial standard bearer of the PDP for Bayelsa state November 2019 Elections.
Diri was a member of the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2019, where he represented the people of Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma federal constituency of the state, before he was elected as the senator representing Bayelsa central senatorial district during the 2019 general election.
