Daurawa Reconciles with Governor Yusuf, Returns as Hisbah Commander

To resolve a recent disagreement, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State and the Commander General of Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, have reconciled. This development was confirmed by Daurawa himself in a Facebook post on Monday night.

The reconciliation meeting convened at the Kano State government house, was initiated at the behest of Governor Yusuf. As a result of the discussions, Daurawa is scheduled to resume his duties as Commander General of the Hisbah Board starting Tuesday.

Efforts to mend the rift included the intervention of a group of esteemed Islamic clerics known as “Zauren Hadin Kan Malamai”, who were dispatched to Daurawa to seek his understanding and encourage his return to leadership. Additionally, the government enlisted representatives from the Kano State House of Assembly and the Chief Imam of the National Mosque in Abuja to engage with Daurawa in the reconciliation process.

The disagreement arose following Governor Yusuf’s criticism of the Hisbah Board’s “operation kau da badala” strategy, aimed at curbing immorality in the state. Daurawa’s subsequent resignation within 24 hours of the governor’s remarks sparked public outrage and criticism.

Monday’s meeting, initiated by Governor Yusuf, was driven by his desire to address the matter and restore harmony between the government and the Hisbah Board.
