Court Allows Tukur Mamu Access to Private Physician

Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has granted the request of the alleged terrorist negotiator, Tukur Mamu, to access his personal physician due to an alleged deteriorating health condition. In his ruling, Justice Ekwo ordered that Mamu’s medical doctor be permitted to treat him, under the supervision of the Department of State Service’s team of physicians.

Justice Ekwo, in agreement with Mamu’s counsel, Johnson Usman, questioned the Federal Government’s lawyer, David Kaswe, about whether the defendant was entitled to his personal physician, to which Kaswe responded affirmatively. Subsequently, the judge adjourned the case to February 26 to 28, 2024, for the continuation of the trial.
