The President of The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has released a statement informing the general Public that The Official_ASUU twitter account is Fake and The Union at the National Level does not has any Social Media Representation.
He also urge branch chairs to rebuff and report the account for it ti be taken down by The TwitterLLC
Here are his Words.
The attention of the union has been drawn to the existence of a Twitter account bearing Official_ASUU with the handle @ASUUNGR purportedly belonging to and presenting the views of the National Leadership of the Union.
Please be informed that ASUU leadership at the national level does not maintain any social media presence being it Twitter handle, Facebook account or page, WhatsApp Account (Single or Group),etc.
Further to the above, the trending Twitter account Official_ASUU with the handle @ASUUNGR is Spurious and should be protested against. Consequently Branch chairperson are t encourage their members who are active on Twitter to rebuff the Twitter Official_ASUU with the handle @ASUUNGR and report same as spurious to ena ble TwitterLLC pull down the account.
Also, the handler of the Account has changed it description to Parody: The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is a Nigerian union of university academic staff, founded 1978; Meaning it is un-official.
Meanwhile Nigerians has reacted to this development.

Quiet a pity this handle is not authentic ASUU Handle. But I must give it to you…you did it for them. You were really there for us during the strike. Thank you for the updates and info during the dark days with our lecturers.They need to appreciate that before denouncing you.
