How COZA Pastor raped me, Timi Dakolo’s wife opens up

Busola Dakolo, multi-talented photographer and wife of Nigerian entertainer, Timi Dakolo, has accused the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, of raping her multiple times when she was a teenager.

Busola revealed this in an interview with lawyer and Journalist, Chude Jideonwo. The allegation comes weeks after Busola’s husband, Timi Dakolo, in a series of social media posts, called out the Abuja-based Pastor for serially molesting female members of the church.

A calm but sometimes visibly emotional mother of three shared sordid details of how the flamboyant pastor whose wife was at the time pregnant with their first child, visited her home very early in the morning when her mother had travelled. She said that as soon as she let him in the house, he pushed her onto a couch and forced himself on her, telling her “Busola, listen to me, do what I want you to do and you would be fine…”.

He then violated her, taking her virginity, she narrated. Recalls that this was not the first time Fatoyinbo would be mentioned in a sex scandal. In 2013, a former female congregant and worker at COZA, Ese Walters, confessed to having had an affair with him.

Busola’s revelation has outraged members of the public with many calling for the removal, arrest and prosecution of Fatoyinbo. Actor and Producer, Akah Nnani, who is a member of the COZA church has called for an investigation into the allegation.

“We must not see evil and cover it, we must not see evil and turn the other way … Our leaders and our fathers must be held accountable, they must deem us worthy to be answerable to,” he said. He continued: “I am tired of hearing so much, so much rubbish about my church and leadership over the years. “My Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo has to say something this time.

If the rest of the church does not need it, I need it. For my sake, sir, speak on this,” he appealed. Also commenting on the allegation, famous newscaster & TV producer, Funni Iyanda, via her Twitter handle said: “I believe Busola Dakolo. Every word she uttered.

There are many layers of power, politics, manipulation and crime woven through her brave revelations. I expect that Pastor Biodun will go to jail or whatever the equivalent of that is in Nigeria now.” Similarly, a public affairs commentator, Dr. Joe Abah, also tweeted: “It would have taken incredible courage for a public figure, mother and wife IN NIGERIA to come out and do what Busola Dakolo did. Many women may not even tell their husbands and would rather think “Naa. I have too much to lose.” I hope the matter gets to court soon.”

COZA pastor, Fatoyinbo, reacts to rape allegation

Biodun Fatoyinbo, founder of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Abiodun Fatoyinbo, has denied the rape allegations levelled against him by Timi Dakolo’s wife, Busola.

Mr Fatoyinbo said in a statement Friday evening, ”I have never raped before.”

He described the allegations as ”falacious”, ”non-existent” adding that ”they are denied in all measures.”

“Looking at her status and that of her husband, I am dumbfounded why she would say such a thing,” he said in a statement.

Mrs. Dakolo is the second high profile person after Ese Walter to accuse the cleric of sexual abuse.

The mother-of-three laid it bare in a damning interview conducted by YNaija’s Chude Jideonwo.

The photographer said some years ago, while she was still below 18, the pastor visited her parents’ home and raped her.

She said the cleric, whose church she attended at the time, sexually abused one more time before she left the church.

Mrs Dakolo said the case was known to church leaders who tried to cover it up. She said Mr Fatoyinbo pleaded with her and her family to forgive her, and blamed the devil for his behaviour.

The allegations sparked anger online on Friday, with many Nigerians calling for the popular pastor to be prosecuted.

Mr Fatoyinbo in his response, acknowledged knowing Mrs Dakolo and her family ”during the early start of his church in Ilorin in 1999.”

Countering Mrs Dakolo’s claims, he said he never had a private interactions with her beyond his pastoral duties.

Nigerians react to COZA pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo’s rape allegations

Meanwhile, Don Jazzy, Toke Makinwa, Daddy Freeze and a host of other celebrities have praised Mrs Dakolo for speaking up.

On the other hand, a former presidential aide to Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, faulted Mrs Dakolo’s allegations against the controversial pastor.

Mr Omokri said Mrs Dakolo’s narration of how she was raped was not plausible, adding that Mr Fatoyinbo is too ‘sleek to rape an underage girl’.

According to him, though he did not like the COZA pastor, the story does not add up and ‘rings false’.

Mr Omokri wrote: “I have never liked Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Coza global for reasons that I will not say publicly. However, I am mature enough to divorce my emotions and be led by logic. And I counsel those now condemning him to do the same.

“The average Black African is easily moved to hysteria by excitable emotions. This is why it is ridiculously easy to manipulate Africans with the media. Satan does his best work with such people, who can’t suppress emotion in preference to logic.

“Think. Don’t emote. A pastor comes to your house early in the morning. He does not know who will open when he knocks, or who is at home. He knocks and immediately you open he pushed you to a chair and raped you in your pajamas. Do people think?”

Nigerians on twitter are currently reacting to a recent rape accusation against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of The Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) by Busola Dakolo.

Mrs Dakolo, who is the wife of a popular Nigerian singer, Timi Dakolo, made the revelation during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, which was published on Friday by the channel, YNaija.

The controversial video has, however, triggered widespread reactions on twitter hence making COZA, Biodun Fatoyinbo, rapist, man of God and Busola Dakolo trending topics.
A Nigerian social commentator, Japheth Omojuwa, in a series of tweets strongly condemned rape as he commended Mrs Dakolo’s act of bravery.

“This season of the Revelation has a rape story in it. Only an irrational person would be shocked by that. Busola Dakolo is brave. I hope her bravery helps other abused women step out. This thing is deeper than whatever is currently out there,” he said.

“UNILORIN students of that period and residents of Ilorin won’t be surprised by these revelations. They know scores of girls, including minors, who went through the same ordeal,” he added.

Nigerian rapper, Jude Abaga, known professionally as MI Abaga, also registered his thoughts on the topic of discussion.

“If a so-called Man of God decides to rape Gods children!!! He must be called what he actually is.. A man of Satan!!!!,” he said, in his reaction.

Audu Maikori, a Nigerian lawyer called for an investigation and prosecution if the accused is found guilty.

“A man is a man of God when he does the things that men of God do, not by just preaching them. The accusations against P. Bioidun are grave &must be investigated & prosecuted if required. Leaders cannot be allowed to wield their power over hapless followers (especially) not in the name of God,” he declared.

A Twitter user, Elsie Godwin (@ELSiEiSY), in her reaction, charged people who misconstrue a particular bible verse to read and get understanding.

According to her, “While conversation around RAPE, Busola Dakolo and COZA Pastor Biodun is ongoing, you all have opinion like you always do, but note that the “TOUCH NOT MY ANOINTED” bible verse u love quoting was NEVER about ur pastors in the first place. Read your Bible, grow sense or shut up!!”

Oluwaseun Ayodeji Osowobi (@AyodejiOsowobi) in her reaction charged victims who have been accused to come out.

“Please if you have experienced abuse by Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), please send me a DM. We are trying to collate names for an important thing. Your information will remain confidential. Please RT,” she said.

The interview comes after Mrs Dakolo’s husband, Timi, called out the pastor over his alleged sexual relationship with female church members, even as he encouraged other victims who have gone through the experience to speak up.

Back in 2013, the flamboyant pastor was also entangled in an allegation of infidelity with Ese Walter, a former member of the church.

COZA: CAN reacts to rape allegation against pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has said it does not regulate how pastors operate their churches.

CAN President, Rev. Supo Ayokunle said this while reacting to the latest allegations by wife of popular musician, Timi Dakolo, Busola, against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, founder of COZA.

Busola had alleged that the COZA founder had forcefully raped her when she was young.

The mother-of-three narrated how Pastor Fatoyinbo allegedly forced his way into her when she was just 18 years.

In a swift reaction, Fatoyinbo denied the allegation, though admitted Busola once attended the same church with his family.

Fatoyinbo, consequently ordered his lawyers to institute both criminal and civil case against Busola.

Reacting to the saga, Ayodele’s Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Pastor Oladeji Adebayo, said CAN does not regulates how pastors operate.

Speaking with Telegraph on the matter, Adebayo said the body neither regulates nor intervene in the running of churches.

He said: “I am sorry CAN does not intervene in how churches are running. Churches belong to denominations and these are the two bodies that regulate how pastors run their ministries, not CAN. CAN deals with intrareligious matters and stands between the church and the government.”

All You need to Know about COZA Pastor and Busola Dakolo Rape

Coza: Another lady, Franca emerges with rape accusation against Pastor Biodun

Another lady identified as Franca E. has come out with rape allegation against the Senior Pastor of COZA, Biodun Fatoyinbo.

The lady said that she has all the evidence intact, in case the pastor dares to deny it.

We had reported that Busola, wife of music star, Timi Dakolo, revealed how the cleric raped her.

The Pastor has since denied the rape allegation, saying that he has not raped anyone even as an unbeliever.

However, the new lady revealed that Biodun, who is the founder and General Overseer of COZA went all out to talk down on his wife just to sleep with her.

She wrote on Instagram, “I was introduced to the church in Abuja by my childhood friend, who moved to Abuja from Calabar two years before I did. When I joined, she was also a PCU worker.

“I really felt welcome in the church up until my friend started having problems with other women. She told me it was because Pastor Biodun trusted her with so many official things even above workers that were there before her.

“I believed her until the day she had an misunderstanding with another worker who called her ‘Ashewo Mary Magdalene’ in the church. After that, her enthusiasm for church started waning while mine was getting stronger till the day she told me she was leaving the church and shortly after she left.

“By that time, Pastor Biodun had developed an interest in counseling me and then started telling me to take my friends place as a PCU worker. I was reluctant because I didnt feel like coming to church early and leaving late but Pastor Zbiodun assured me that his personal driver will pick me and drop me off and so I agreed.

“I started work as arranged but after a while, I noticed that the pastor did not respect personal space when talking to me when we were alone.

“He would stand soooooo close and rub my upper arms or my back which made me very uncomfortable. The final straw was when he said I should go with him to Lagos to take notes and transfer same online immediately for some Pentecostal thing he was attending and he knew I was very computer literate.

“I was excited till we reached Lagos and I realized that only one room was booked at the Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi. Of course I complaint and the Pastor called the front desk ( or pretended to) to demand for another room.

“He said they would call back when the room was ready. He then told me to help massage his back becos he has back ache from sitting on the flight. I said I was tired since it was already after 8. He then insisted I lay down on the bed to rest while waiting.

“I said I preferred to sit at the desk and he laughed saying that I was acting like a small girl or a village uneducated girl. He then went in to take a shower. I then called the front desk to remind then about the extra room.

“I wasn’t surprised when I was told that they had vacant rooms and that nobody had requested for an extra room. By this time, I knew what was up and was ready for the fool.

“I opened his pouch and saw his wallet which had his lisence. Took a picture of the wallet and the Lisence on the pillow on the bed with my head in the shot. I opened the door and took several pictures of myself, the wallet and the Lisence with the room number.

“Came back in, once I heard the shower stop, I started audio recording on my BB. He came out with a towel around his waist and started telling me how attracted he was to me.

“He said many deregatory things about his wife, calling her a postcard…pretty on the outside but flat and empty upstairs. He said sex with her was like having sex with a cold dead fish…he tried to kiss me and I stood up, picked up my travelling bag, moved to the door, opened it and quickly took a picture of him, standing with a towel around him.

“He started begging. I called him all sorts of names and insisted he give me money for a separate room or I would scream ‘rape’. To cut a long story short, he asked me to shut the door, I refused, he brought out 2 bundles of N1000 and asked me to delete before he gives me the money.

“I told him he was in no position to negotiate. Got the money, left the Randy goat with a deflated erection and checked into another room.

“First thing the next morning, I left for ABJ. By the way, remember my childhood friend that introduced me toCOZA? I narrated my experience to her and she confessed that she was sleeping with Biodun for over a year, even on his marital bed when his wife travelled. Oga Pastor, try and deny my story publicly and see American wonder….I still have the pictures and our conversation on tape. Thank God for technology.”

“I am saddened by the revelations of Busola, and I am calling for a full-fledged investigation and the accused if found guilty must face the full and maximum wrath of the law.

“I further call on the Government to show more support for rape victims. We currently do not do enough to support rape victims.”

What Pastor Tony Rapu said about sexual abuse amid Biodun Fatoyinbo’s scandal

The Senior Pastor of This Present House Church in Lagos, Tony Rapu, has shared his views on sexual abuse.

He posted a lengthy write-up on his personal website, same day an interview where Timi Dakolo’s wife, Busola, accused Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of raping her, went viral.

Titled “Abuse in the light of the gospel”, Rapu spoke extensively on how sexual assault destroys “countless lives”.

The cleric did not also shy away from the fact that “this negative trend is now impacting people in our churches and those we are trying to reach with the message of the Kingdom.”

His essay reads in full:

Abuse in The Light of The Gospel

From child sexual assault to domestic violence to workplace harassment, abuse destroys countless lives. New stories filled with allegations of sexual abuse or assault by leaders and prominent persons continue to emerge. The #MeToo phenomenon has drawn significant attention to an issue that many are afraid to talk about.

Only recently, some young girls spoke out against abuse by young Nigerian boys in UK universities, when they conducted a walk around the Bourdillon, Ikoyi area to bring attention to this issue. This negative trend is now impacting people in our churches and those we are trying to reach with the message of the Kingdom.

I believe many churches desire to get it right on this issue but often do not get involved because leadership may lack the competence to address the problem. Many lack the confidence to address sexual abuse because they don’t feel adequately equipped to handle the complexities involved.

Others do not have sufficient training to address the challenges of sexual or even domestic abuse matters throw up. We need to understand how this issue of sexual abuse can be addressed in the light of the Gospel:

Caring for survivors:

Protecting and caring for others was a priority of Jesus Christ in His life and it should be for us today. The effect of sexual abuse cannot be overlooked or minimised. The trauma experienced by a survivor of sexual abuse should drive us to compassionate ministry.

Many have never told anyone and I believe when they do, they need to be met with support and care as a first response. Because it is difficult to share, we must be sensitive even to delayed, vague or partial disclosure.

Even in cases where it is still an allegation, survivors should still be supported as many innocent victims who have hitherto been shamed into silence are encouraged to voice their pain. There is no quick fix to this trauma. So we need to work patiently, not shaming the survivors, but allowing time for grief. If we do not respond appropriately to issues of abuse, we will end up bringing greater pain that traumatize the individuals, and we would never be able to effectively address this issue.

Confronting sin:

We must call sexual abuse sin. Since we understand God’s design for sexuality, it will be sad if the world were more willing than the Church to name and address the issue of sexual abuse. Sexuality was created by God for our good.

When we understand the beauty of what God designed, we can appreciate the devastating effects of sexual abuse. We cannot ignore or cover the matter. Properly dealing with sin like this reflects what we believe about God and the Gospel.

When prominent personalities in the world do not offer apologies for their actions, it provides a backdrop for the Church to discuss what genuine repentance should look like. Confronting sin means we are being honest when things go wrong in the Church. We must evaluate what went wrong in order to make appropriate changes in situations of abuse. It is never late to do the right thing.

Seeking justice:

Abuse is not just a sin. It is also against the law in many countries. As we have seen in cases globally where there is an attempt to cover up abuse, it is usually in a bid to avoid a scandal. Unfortunately, this produces a system that empowers and protects abusers and in the end it is the abused, particularly minors, who suffer.

We need to be more concerned about dealing with sexual abuse in a way that cares for survivors and demonstrates justice rather than with the fear of what a scandal might produce. We must recognize sexual abuse as a sin but also something that goes beyond the jurisdiction of the Church. This is where many organisations make a mistake by trying to handle sexual assault allegations internally.

Some have blamed survivors, even those who were children at the time of the abuse and have often pressurised them to forgive rather than seek justice. There is a sense of not wanting other people to know. We don’t want to air our dirty laundry in public. But we must never pressure survivors into forgiveness. Yes, we do need forgiveness; but we must not use forgiveness to undermine the severity of sexual abuse and keep survivors quiet.

Protecting the vulnerable:

We must look for ways to improve our effort to prevent and stop abuse. We can protect the vulnerable through sexual abuse awareness training. We need to demonstrate that the Church is a safe place both in preventing abuse, protecting the vulnerable, and getting help for those abused.

We have a God who cares for the vulnerable and hears their cries. We as His people should be like Him. The Church should be the place where victims of sexual assault find help and hope. Training on how to identify sexual abuse and respond to survivors will help members navigate this difficult topic in a Christ-centered approach.

We have a long way to go in not shaming the abused. We have been too afraid of being attacked by outsiders and too focused on maintaining our image. The truth is that addressing sexual abuse gives us the opportunity to acknowledge our sins and our need of a Saviour. It also demonstrates the nature of God to a broken world.

COZA: Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo‘s wife breaks silence on Busola Dakolo’s rape allegations

Pastor-Modele-Fatoyinbo

Wife to Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo has broken silence on the rape allegations by Timi Dakolo’s wife, Busola against her husband, who doubles as General Overseer of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA.

Busola, the wife of popular singer, Timi Dakolo had alleged that the COZA founder had forcefully raped her when she was young.

The mother-of-three narrated how Pastor Fatoyinbo allegedly forced his way into her when she was a teenager.

Fatoyinbo, however, denied the allegation, though admitted that Busola once attended the same church with his family.

The clergyman consequently ordered his lawyers to institute both criminal and civil cases against Busola.

Speaking in COZA Abuja on Sunday morning, Pastor Modele Fatoyinbo denied the allegation against her husband

According to her, “My husband cannot rape anyone even as an unbeliever.”

Meanwhile there is heavy police and security presence at Abuja headquarters of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA on Sunday morning.

Rape allegations: What would have happened if I wasn’t COZA Pastor – Biodun Fatoyinbo

The Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, has said he would have still been a member of the church, if he wasn’t already the spiritual leader.

Fatoyinbo stated this during his short speech on Sunday, days after Busola, wife to singer Timi Dakolo, alleged that the pastor raped her when she was barely 18.

Amid calls to step down, the charismatic preacher claimed if he wasn’t the Senior Pastor of the church, he would have still been a member.

“I have always said something to you. I said that if I wasn’t the pastor, I would still be a member,” he said.

The COZA Founder went on to announce a suspension of their annual programme ‘Seven Days of Glory’.

The programme was earlier scheduled to commence on Monday, July 1. Instead, Fatoyinbo has declared indefinite prayers to replace the event.

He had previously issued a statement, strongly denying that he raped Mrs. Dakolo while she was a teenager.

COZA: Security agencies under fire for arresting protesters against Biodun Fatoyinbo

Coza protesters arrested
Coza protesters arrested

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has strongly condemned the harassment and arbitrary arrests by Nigerian law enforcement and security agents of anti-rape activists who protested on Sunday in Abuja against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, founder of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA).

In a statement by SERAP deputy director, Kolawole Oluwadare, the organization said the Nigerian authorities must immediately and unconditionally release all those detained and allow them to exercise their rights to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.

The statement read in part: “It’s ridiculous and unfair that the Nigerian authorities are arresting peaceful protesters demanding justice for alleged rape rather than going after the suspected perpetrator.

“The Nigerian authorities should immediately establish an independent commission to investigate alleged excessive use of force by law enforcement and security agents at COZA headquarters and bring to justice anyone found to be responsible.

“While law enforcement and security agents have a responsibility to provide public security, they need to abide by human rights standards on the use of force.

“The allegation of use of excessive force against peaceful protesters demanding justice for alleged rape against a popular pastor urgently demands a fully independent investigation.”

Comedian, Alibaba berates pastors’ silence on Busola Dakolo’s rape allegations against Biodun Fatoyinbo

Alibaba-1

Veteran comedian and social commentator, Alibaba has called out prominent pastors for keeping mute over the rape allegations levelled against Biodun Fatoyinbo, Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, COZA.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Fatoyinbo, who has stepped down, was accused by Busola Dakolo of raping her as a teenager causing wild outrage on and off social media.

Recall that wife of popular musician, Timi Busola, had alleged that the COZA founder forcefully raped her when she was young.

However, pastors of prominent Nigerian churches are yet to speak, despite the controversy created by the saga.

Alibaba stated that the case would have been different if it was about members of the church and not a fellow pastor.

In a post on his Instagram page, Alibaba wrote: “When it comes to preaching against what members of the congregations are doing wrong, its in Vol 1, 2 and 3.

“Fornication, smoking, indecent dressing, drinking, night clubbing, polygamy, divorce, robbery, domestic violence, terrorism, being stingy, racism, corruption, greed, homosexuality, adultery, mixing with bad gang.

“But touch, not the Lord’s anointed and do my profits no harm.”
